About Debra Malinics


ENTREPRENEUR
Ms. Malinics founded Debra Malinics Advertising (DMA), a certified WBE branding, marketing and communications firm. During its tenure, its garnered over 350 creative awards including the Gold Medal for Advertising Excellence. Ms. Malinics personal honors include being listed in Who’s Who of Executive Women, named a Woman of Distinction, a Woman to Watch, nominated as Woman Business Owner of the Year and having the firm named one of the Top 50 Women Owned Businesses in Pennsylvania.


AUTHOR AND SPEAKER
Ms. Malinics has published numerous articles relating to advertising and marketing, and is a frequent lecturer and speaker on business topics. She has been interviewed on numerous broadcast media and was invited by The University of Grenoble, France, to speak on “Differences in Advertising and Marketing in European and American Markets.” The agency’s work has been published in regional, national and international publications.


EDUCATOR / BOARD MEMBER / COMMUNITY SERVICE
Ms. Malinics has taught advertising, design and entrepreneurship at area universities throughout her career. She has served as a Business Volunteer for the Arts for 15 years, working with non-profits to help them expand market awareness. She has served as a reviewer for numerous creative competitions and has been an active mentor with professional organizations including SCORE, Philadelphia Women's Network, National Association of Women Business Owners, the Forum of Executive Women and Drexel University.


Debra served on the board of the Gershman Y, a local arts and cultural organization and on the Film Festival Screening Committee. She sat on the Advisory Board of LISC, Local Initiatives Support Corporation, dedicated to creating sustainable communities, and on the board of the Philadelphia Workforce Development Corporation, an agency involved with training, employment and job placement in Philadelphia. She served as a consulting member to IPraxis, an organization that helps under-served city students develop skills in math,science, technology and engineering. She served on the advisory Board for  Temple’s Fox School of Business and the Gift of Life Family House. She is presently involved as a mentor to support young professionals with the Forum of Executive Women, and Drexel’s University’s Baida Institute.

FUN FACTS
Ms. Malinics speaks three languages (English, French, Italian) and lives in Chestnut Hill with Carmen, a perfectly behaved and gifted rescue dog from Puerto Rico. Carmen is a certified Therapy Dog with Therapy Dogs International (TDI). Like Debra, Carmen believes in giving back to the community with visits to schools, libraries, and healthcare centers where she helps students, children and the elderly, experience the joy and improved health benefits that an animal can provide.
